Getting Started
Go from install to live AI chatbot in under 5 minutes. No coding required.
1 Install the App
Find Factfu in the Shopify App Store and click Install. Approve the requested permissions — Factfu needs read access to your products, pages, discounts, and orders to power the AI assistant.
After installation, you'll be automatically signed into the Factfu dashboard.
2 Wait for the Sync
Factfu immediately begins syncing your store content. You'll see a progress indicator on the dashboard. This usually takes 1–2 minutes depending on the size of your catalog.
What gets synced:
- All published products (titles, descriptions, variants, images, prices)
- Published pages (About, Contact, FAQ, etc.)
- Active discount codes and promotions
Tip: Content re-syncs automatically when you update products or pages. You can also trigger a manual sync from the dashboard at any time.
3 Enable the Widget
The chat widget is delivered via a Shopify app embed. To enable it:
- Go to your Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes
- Click Customize on your active theme
- In the left sidebar, click App embeds
- Toggle Factfu on
- Click Save
The widget will now appear on your storefront — by default in the bottom-right corner.
4 Test the AI
Visit your storefront and open the chat widget. Try asking:
- "What products do you have?"
- "Do you have any discounts right now?"
- "Tell me about [specific product name]"
- "Track my order" (provide an order number and email)
The AI will respond using your actual store data — no generic answers.
5 Customise Your Widget
In the Factfu dashboard, go to Bots → Widget to customise:
- Colours: Primary colour, header gradient, message bubbles — match your brand.
- Greeting: Set the initial message visitors see when the widget opens.
- Position: Bottom-right or bottom-left.
- Avatar: Upload a custom avatar or use the default.
- Suggested replies: Toggle on to show follow-up buttons after AI responses.
6 Set Up Live Chat (Optional)
If you want your team to handle some conversations directly:
- Go to Live Chat in the dashboard
- Set your business hours so customers know when agents are available
- When a customer clicks "Talk to a human" in the widget, you'll see the request in your Live Chat queue
- Click to take over — the AI steps aside and you chat directly
7 Set Up Lead Capture (Optional)
Go to Forms in the dashboard to create lead-capture forms. You can configure which fields to collect (name, email, phone, custom fields) and when the form appears. Submissions show up in your dashboard and can be sent to external tools via webhooks.
